@Tobster:
This is due to the repacking of HCEnc^n with UPX
@VM:
Please do me a favor:
Either include HCEnc^n & QuEnc^n with their orginial UPX compression or simply leave them uncompressed.
I would be sad if HCEnc^n and QuEnc^n get a bad reputation (not to function) because of the UPX recompression.
Thanks
Have a nice weekend,

Its a while since I've used DIKO but I thought I'd give this update a try. My first issue is that it takes ages to run the Authoring stage (see log below). I tried BBMeg instead, but that fails saying it can't find the ac3 file. I have a new PC, running XP Sp3, Intel Quad Core and 4gb ram. Maybe this is normal time but with other software (such as AVStoDVD) I can complete a full best quality HCEnc encode and ISO creation in around 45 mins. Also, if I select to run Best Resolution Finder, I get an error with HCEnc and it fails to run (a missing ini file is reported)

@Darksoul71
Ok, I'll leave it unpacked. It seemed that using the previous version of UPX had solved this problem but it didn't
@CarlosCaballero
Please edit the file: c:\program files\DIKO\encoders\freeenc.ini and replace "-%%PASSES%%" with "%%PASSES%%" (i.e., remove the "-")
I'll fix this for the next release.
@rendez2k
I'll check tomorrow and report back to you

Well the problems I am having with this update is that diko is adding track0 to the filename of the ac3. So instead of it being e.g Movie1.ac3 its naming them Movie1_Track0.ac3 and then when it comes to muxing bbmpeg moans that it cant find the file?
And HCENC when set to quality based mode moans about an ini and about %%BITRATE%% doesnt exist.
And Quenc doesnt even have the ability to set as quality based (although that was one of the features of this release?)

@rendez (the ac3 file is there its just had _track0 added to the filename) delete the _track0 part and then just go back into diko, go to manage conversions and just go straight to the mux part and let it carry on the process. The muxing program (bbmpeg is looking for the correct ac3 filename which is without the _track0) thats why its not working.

@Darksoul71
Ok, I'll leave it unpacked. It seemed that using the previous version of UPX had solved this problem but it didn't
@CarlosCaballero
Please edit the file: c:\program files\DIKO\encoders\freeenc.ini and replace "-%%PASSES%%" with "%%PASSES%%" (i.e., remove the "-")
I'll fix this for the next release.
@rendez2k
I'll check tomorrow and report back to you
Thanks, now it seams to be working. I will let you know.

Many thanks - think that will do the trick but hope it gets fixed in next release. Is BBMeg generally better to use? Sounds like my HCEnc had similar INI issues to c.kirkby3 when using the auto resolution finder. On another note, does anyone know if its safe to replace DVDStyler with the latest version (think its 1.62)?

@VM: Thanks ! I think it´s better to have somewhat bigger files and a stable encoder
Altough I still think that it´s the wrong approach to quit UPX compression simply because
Virus Detection Developers are too stupid / lazy to think about different ways to detect
true viruz other than saying "Hey, it´s using UPX, so it must be bad !".
To me the more straight forward approach is to e-mail your antivir company telling them
about QuEnc^n, HCEnc^n and pretty much any AutoIt-based tool out there is a false
positive. Even more you should tell them that you stay away from their "great" product if they are unable to fix this.

I am afraid the giant file problem is still unresolved.
I think you misunderstood something...
Niot DIKO is doing something wrong. It´s simply not able to detect the length of your movie. As a matter of fact I would guess that no future version of DIKO will be able to detect the length of a corrupt file.
You should try what I told you in the other thread over there:
- Open the first part of the AVI in VirtualDub
- Append the second part of the AVI
- Set VDub to stream copy for Video and save the movie
If DIKO is still not able to detect the length correctly, then you could run DivFix++ on the file.
http://divfixpp.sourceforge.net/
AVI (esp from old / cheap CDs) are often corrupt.
Cheers,
D$

DarkSoul,
you are right, I misunderstood. I thought VM meant that the incorrect trim command on the second movie was causing Diko to misread the length of the movie, not that the movie file itself is corrupted. I'll try your suggestion and post the results.

My first issue is that it takes ages to run the Authoring stage (see log below).
I don't know how much time it used to take but 20 minutes seems fine to me...
Quote
I tried BBMeg instead, but that fails saying it can't find the ac3 file.
Yep. BBMpeg muxing is broken due to the new DIKO GOLD dual audio support but nobody had noticed... Until now
Thanks for reporting, I'll fix this.
Quote
Also, if I select to run Best Resolution Finder, I get an error with HCEnc and it fails to run (a missing ini file is reported)
You just found another bug. It seems that the change to allow QuEnc Quality based mode to work has caused the issue, I'll fix.
Quote from: c.kirkby3 on 13 de July de 2008, 08:26
Well the problems I am having with this update is that diko is adding track0 to the filename of the ac3. So instead of it being e.g Movie1.ac3 its naming them Movie1_Track0.ac3 and then when it comes to muxing bbmpeg moans that it cant find the file?
And HCENC when set to quality based mode moans about an ini and about %%BITRATE%% doesnt exist.
Replied above
Quote
And Quenc doesnt even have the ability to set as quality based (although that was one of the features of this release?)
It does. If you set bitrate between 1 and 32 it understands that you want quality based mode. I also didn't knew this, Darksoul71 was the one that brought this to my attention

No it's not. DIKO uses a specially moded DVDStyler that can be called to build from command-line. Unfortunatelly I have not been able to rebuild DVDStyler since 1.60 (leave alone apply the patches). But I'll retry in the future.

Thanks, new DVDStyler would be nice as it allows images from the video in the buttons. As a small request, could the output folder be put into the 'authoring with DVD author' dialogue box? I don't always want to output to the folder in the settings menu.
