Well..well...as promised here is the latest version of AQE. The following features/corrections were made :
  • Added a feature in the animation mode : Scene Change Threshold is adjusted if too low.
  • AQE is fully compatible in a multi instance mode now : AQE^n (from Darksoul71) for example
  • Added an auto max QMatOp intra/inter value feature, it seems to correct some macro blocking in some cases (I will call it the Appleseed bug! Smiley )
  • Changed the min value for inter matrices to 16.
    8 seems to be problematic sometimes...and it scares people!

Ok this one will be the one! Smiley Please tell me it will be the official 0.33b!!!  Grin

@SAPSTAR

One more time: thank you very much, mate!! Cheesy

I already downloaded it and will try it with an movie whence I'm getting an error in QMatOp phase: AQE just 'dies' without return any error message ... Sad I hope that this release fix this pb. I will start the encoding right now (crossing the fingers Grin )

Keep up the very, very, very excellent work! Smiley

C ya!

Me neither!! That just happened with a one movie. I tried encode it using HCEnc and I got video encoded, it was muxed with audio, blablabla but when it's played back, it gets corrupted almost at the end of it, when happens a scene change and audio gets async with video, very weird!!  Shocked The log doesn't tell anything usefull because of it just contains the initial informations (version, bitrate, initial qmatop multiplier). AQE dies in QMatOp stage and as I did use AQE GUI by 'Psycho Reptile', then I don't see the output in dos shell ... I will try with new release and so see what I got with it.

Great work, but does this also mean that it will run multiple instances of AQMenc in the Pro version of DVD rebuilder also Huh, if you have selected touse multiple encoders.

it could if jdobbs was doing it...currently when AQE is selected, DVDRB dont start multiple instances....As far as I know the only way to do it is through AQE^n.

@SAPSTAR:
Based on the comment below jdobbs sent me via doom9 PM I think he would be willing to support multiple instances of AQE in DVD-RB Pro if you suggest it:

Quote
Rebuilder Pro doesn't allow selection of multiple encoder instances when using AQE. This was based upon recommendations from SAPSTAR because of its use of MT.

I was politely trying to point out this somewhere in mid of june *sigh*  Roll Eyes

Well he was right before the version 0.33.0.6....Once this release will be the official one (I'm to release it on Friday if nothing major is found), then I will send some suggestions to jdobbs (additional parameters like threads, qmatop parameters, multiple instance, ...)

[EDIT] BTW, Could you create a thread for AQE^n?! It's a great tool. And did you have the chance to make the changes about OPV?!

Gr8, i look forward to the multiple instance of AQMenc in DVD-RB. But just for my understanding, currently with a single instance it uses 6 threads on my PC and the CPU shows 100% usage. How will it manage multiple instance Huh will the threads used in each instance go down and if yes, will it be faster or slower Huh

Yep, I´ve done the changes about OPV plus an option to enable OPV support via AQE^n through an ini-setting (this could be valuable for other tools using AQE^n). Unfortunately I didn´t have the time to complete the manual. Thus I decided currently not to release this version.

I´ll open up a separate thread once I´ve completed the manual (in order to tell people to RTFM Grin)

Hm, I can not comment how jdobbs implements AQE multiple instance support but my guess is that he simply uses the same approach as for QuEnc and HCEnc: Launching a separate encoder instance for each segment (as implemented with DualDVDRB). IMO DVDRB Pro should also include a setting for limiting the # of thread or even disabling MT for each instance of AQE.

In regard to speed anyone will have to find his "sweet spot" between multiple instances and threads. Sometimes single instance with automated MT will be fastest. Sometimes multiple instances with disabled MT will be fastest. There are way too many variables making this impossible to predict (e.g. filters used, RAM used, chipset used, complexity of video material).

I have a undersize problem with Elfen Lied vol 1.  The source size was 5.94 GB and the encoded dvd size is 3.92 GB.  The encode was a full movie backup, qmatop on, 2 pass.  The encode looks pretty good, just with it was sized better.

Here are some logs:
