Taaaaadaaaaa  Grin

Here are the features/changes....many many tests to perform   Roll Eyes
  • Tuned QMatOp on very hard to encode scenes. (Ex: Pitch Black "crash down" scene)
  •   Reviewed the Rate Controls for Normal and High Bitrates. (spikes hunt Smiley )
  •   Added a pulldown function (very experimental) :
  • pulldown_detect=#    (1: 23.976->29.97, 2:24.000->29.97, 3:25.000->29.97)
  • It's applied once the movie is encoded, so for a PAL->NTSC conversion, select a PAL encode, then pulldown_detect=3
[li]  AutoBias : If vbr_bias>=0 , automatic else for a manual bias just set it as a negative value.[/li]
[li]  Bias : Behavior brought back to the CCE standard => 1 means maximum VBR, 100 means CBR.[/li]
[li]  Added a special mode correction when in high bitrates if the movie is oversized, a new faster method is called to correct it.[/li]
[li]  Added some timed log functions. Now everything is timestamped in the log file.[/li]
[li]  OPV Mode : It should simulate a little bit more the CCE behaviour :[/li]
  • Range is now 0-300 like CCE
  • The curve is a 1/x^2 kind of function.....a bit like CCE
[/list]

I wish you good luck on this one  Cheesy Many things were added so many risks....but I want to release soon an official 0.33b to allow jdobbs to release the next DVDRB with AQE support soon....

@Danpos: Still thinking about MPEG2 CBR..... Shocked But I know you'll like this one my friend!!

@tamahome

Code:
adjust_q_matrix=0

This is OK if you want QMatOp off (and so you can use custom quantization matrix).

Looking into AQE.aa2 at DIKO\encoders subfolder, you can see there:

Code:
adjust_q_matrix=1

and so QMatOp will turn on (and your custom matrix will be override by QMatOp generated one).

Thus, you must to change the line

Code:
adjust_q_matrix=1

from AQE.aa2 file

to

Code:
adjust_q_matrix=0

Good luck,

I just want to remind the rules to report an error...without the requested info, most of the time no help can be given. Shocked
Thank you.

Something else I want to remind : RC in AQE is highly tweaked when used in conjunction with QMatOp, deactivate it at your own risks......

@BR7

This is normal: it's just the rate control of AQE which is tested out to each pass after 2 or after - if rate control is 'good' (meaning that the real file size matches the expected one withing error range) then AQE ends up the encoding. If not, it will do the remaing passes. Did you get it?

See ya,

@BR7: Thank you for the feedback. I like the "flavour" of your pictures, I think I'll give a try to RemoveGrainSSE2.
I see that you deactivated QMatOp, did you encounter any sizing/quality pb?! With QMatOp On, I rarely need to go further than 2 passes for achieving the final quality and sizing......

I am new to this forum but a regular user of DVDRB and love the quality of AQE and would like to use it regularly.
I tried the new beta 33.0.4 and it oversize but the quality was surpriseingly good. I am a novice to these encoders and some of the technical jargons used I might not be able to use them. So I will ask some novice questions
Why did it oversized? Does it have to do with the new auto bias as I leave DVDRB VBR Bias at defalt? (I'm afarid I deleted all log files and not able to post ECL and RB setting. However I did set target setting 2265000 which I used before with AQE and QMAT on it did not oversized. It was used this time with QMAT off. All other settings in DVDRB was at the default setting for standard films.

Next Ques. Does AQE use the selected matrix when it's used with QMAT off?

What is the best settings to use with DVDRB PRO 1.09.2 is it the default settings (I ask this as I'm a little bit confused about the new bias feature maybe because I'm thinking that there is some correlation between this and the settings in DVDRB for VBR Bias.

Sapstar I would like to congrat you on a great encoder and encourage you to keep up the good work !!!! Watch Out CCE!!!!!!!
