@SAPSTAR

Good post ! I do appreciate your support at our forum. I shall wait the next version to do some tests in DVD-Rebuilder (yeah, I'm a RB PRO user ... lol).

Keep up the good work, buddy!

Last version available now :

0.28b - 2005/08/05
- Corrected a major bug in the credits "type" scenes
- Corrected the rate control, 2 passes are enough for 90% of the scenes,
3/4 passes for the rest.
- Improved the sizing - Should be ok now.
For DVDRB Users, the default target size for DVDRB is 4.28Gb,
I suggest CCETargetSectors=2260000 (4.31Gb)or 2280000 (4.35Gb) when using AQE.
- Recompiled avcodec, I'm now using the very last version of it...
(some overflows corrections were brought with it)

Good encodes ....and let me know your results....

Special thanks to Badservo for the free hosting (www.autoqmatenc.com) and Axlemar for the many detailed tests he ran  ..

FYI : I lost my HDD during my vacations due to a storm, so I had to restart from the 0.24b version sources....I hope everything is back to normal now.

Hi there !

A new release is available :
0.29b - 2005/08/18
- Added fix_gop_length support (in order to keep the length of GOP steadier if your DVD player doesn't support it)
- Improved the rate control for very dark scenes
- Added packet_size parameter :
Used for the scene change threshold, bigger it is, less detection we have
- Changed the threshold for the Qmin increase
- Corrected a gap in the rate control correction linearity
- Corrected QMatOp, an error could be propagated on dark scenes
- Variable Dark limit for triggering several tweakings
- Corrected a bug, AQE starts next passes even if the rate control was perfect.
Thx Carpo for that one.
- Adjusted some thresholds

@SAPSTAR

I would like to thank you also for keeping us updated on this board with the progress of your excellent Mpeg2 encoder, we appreciate you keeping us updated with its progress.

Thanks for the update. Grin

I wonder if one day (with your permission of course) maybe DIKO could support your encoder as a sort of free alternative to CCE, then DIKO will be able to support two free encoders which would be good.

I hope Vm could consider this. Cheesy

Is it possible to use AutoQMatEnc with DIKO?

I've tried pointing DIKO to AQM instead of ECLCCE, but that didn't work.

Any ideas?

At present no but I am hoping future versions of DIKO will support this encoder. The reason?

There are a lot of libavcodec based encoders out there FreeEnc being one of them and rather than trying to include all the others such as QuEnc & NuEnc I think it would be nice just to use AQE as a free alternative for people who don't wish to use CCE.

I know it will add more variables to DIKO and possibly a new radio button for this encoder but I think it would be useful and I know SAPSTAR is working on the rate control so hopefully we could get nice results using this encoder.

Also I feel if this encoder is supported (with SAPSTAR's permission of course Grin) it would free up some of Vmesquita's time not having to work on FreeEnc and concertrate on perfecting DIKO so I think it could benefit us end-users. Grin

Just my 2 cents worth. Smiley

I would be honored to have AQE included in DIKO, it shouldn't be hard to make it work instead of CCE, it just has to be called like this : autoqmatenc.exe -ecl [youreclfile]

And yeaah I'm still working at improving the rate control....It should be OK soon. I'm also working on the OPV encode part...I know that danpos is interested in that....

I am interested in that also. Grin It would be great if you could implement that and I wish you all the luck in trying to make it happen.

Thank you so much Jérôme for your reply to my last post and thank you for being so kind as to offer Vmesquita the option of using your encoder should he choose to use it.

I personally would love to see it implemented into DIKO as a free alternative to CCE, it doesn't mean that DIKO has to get rid of FreeEnc either as I don't see why it couldn't support both.

I hope you have some sucess fine tuning the rate control, I know this can be a pain in the butt and I wish you luck on this also.

Thanks again for your reply. Cheesy

Yep as I'm a great admirer and encourager from your work and it's great the improvements that you've applied to AQE. I belive that for now I go back to tests with AQE Wink

For sure that VM will take a look at this thread and certainly he will consider your offer my dear SAPSTAR.

Keep up (always) the good work with AQE.

My best wishes,

I also would be honored to have AQE as an option in DIKO. Cheesy
I am thinking about a sort of plugin architecture for video encoders, so everyone would be able to use your favorite video encoder. Smiley

autoqmatenc seems don't like avs file generated by DIKO. It gives an error (windows error) and closes.
Could you check this, please.
